The haziness of the human mind is at the center of DON’T NOD’s Tell Me Why, a narrative adventure game about two siblings who must come to terms with their mother’s death after spending ten years apart from each other in rural Alaska. And memories of physical or emotional trauma can sometimes be the hardest to recall clearly, especially if a lot of time has passed or a person was very young when the traumatic event happened. When two people talk about a shared memory, they often remember certain parts differently, particularly if it was an emotional or contentious event. We think we remember moments in our lives accurately, but time can distort our perception and make it hard to recall details. Release dates for all three episodes, as well as a second trailer, were revealed on 23, 2020 during Xbox’s Summer Showcase event.Memory can be a tricky thing. Tyler is the first transgender playable character from any major studio, and Dontnod has worked with GLAAD to make him an "authentic representation of the trans experience". It is suggested that these choices will determine which ending the player receives.
The player can make choices throughout the game that strengthen or weaken both the bond and “The Bond” between the siblings. The twins realize that they do not share the same memories of their past, and must work to find the truth of what happened and how their mother died.Īlyson and Tyler are connected by a supernatural tie called “The Bond”, which allows them to share feelings and emotions, and possibly even thoughts and memories. The pair must come to terms with the events of their childhood, specifically the death of their mother Mary-Ann Ronan, as they prepare to sell their childhood home. The game is centered on twins Alyson and Tyler Ronan as they reunite after ten years apart.
